Important message for postal voters

A small number of postal voters across Ashfield are to receive new hand delivered ballot packs after an error was discovered ahead of next week’s elections for Police and Crime Commissioner and the East Midlands Combined County Authority.

The error relates to a mismatch of ballot paper numbers issued by a specialist printing company and was spotted by the Local Returning Officer.

It means a small number of households who have received incorrect postal packs for the election, will have them cancelled and reissued with replacements.

These will be hand delivered to the affected addresses along with an accompanying letter explaining in more detail about what to do.

The replacement packs will be issued by Ashfield District Council on Wednesday 24 April.

If you do NOT receive a new ballot pack, it means your existing one is eligible to be used.

There is still lots of time to vote in the elections. Postal Votes must be returned by 10pm on 2 May 2024 to be counted. The Local Returning Officer is satisfied that this issue is not widespread and that the above action resolves the error.
