Only a week to go until the BIG Ashfield Spring Clean 2025
There is not long left to wait until the BIG Ashfield Spring Clean is back with a bang for 2025.
Now in its eighth year, Ashfield District Council will be taking to the streets to give them a good clean and get rid of any unwanted rubbish. This year will see the return of the free bulky waste collections, flying skips, extra side waste collections, litter picks and community engagement.
The programme kicks off next Monday, 17 February 2025, with a launch event on Sutton Lawn. That will be followed by an extra black bag collection around Sutton and Kirkby all that week.
The Council is asking residents to place any tied up black bags alongside their red lid bin, ready for collection by the waste teams.
On Saturday 22 February the flying skips will be in Sutton. These skips are for excess waste, toys, and bric-a-brac. It will see waste lorries visiting 6 zones with 5 locations in each area throughout the day, starting at 9am.
Full details of where the flying skips will visit is available at:
Kirkby and the rurals will take focus the following week with a community event at Kingsway Park on Monday 24 February. The flying skips will visit 5 zones across the area on Saturday 1 March.

“There is a lot of excitement in the air for the BIG Ashfield Spring Clean and this year it will be bigger and better than ever. We have so much going on across the District and plenty of stuff for residents to get involved in.
“The Spring Clean is hugely popular every year and makes a real difference to our communities. It is great to see so many people get involved each year and we look forward to the same this year.
“This is all part of the Council’s commitment to a cleaner and greener Ashfield.
“Don’t forget to wrap up warm. We look forward to seeing you there.”
Last year the Council collected and disposed of around 100 tonnes of waste during the three-week campaign.
