Maker Space discovery session

Ashfield District Council are hosting a discovery session, for interested residents about the new Maker Space, in January.

The ground floor of High Pavement House will be home to the Maker Space, a place for like-minded people to meet and share their love of creating, crafting, making, and inventing whilst accessing the machines and skills to help their projects come to life. The Maker Space is set to open in spring 2023.

The event, taking place on Tuesday 10 January from 4.30pm – 6.30pm at Sutton Community Academy Lecture Theatre, will give residents a chance to take a look at the exciting plans for the Maker Space at High Pavement House.

Council officers will be on hand to discuss the project and answer any questions.

The Maker Space is part of the Council’s £6.27 million Future High Streets Fund and will see High Pavement House transformed to include office and education space.

Cllr Matthew Relf, Executive Lead Member for Regeneration and Corporate Transformation, who will be at the event explaining the vision for the centre, said:

“I encourage every resident and business who is interested in learning more about the Maker Space to attend our discovery session. The plans for the space, which will be the only one of its kind in Nottinghamshire outside of the city centre, are shaping up nicely.
“The Maker Space will offer a unique experience for Sutton and the rest of the District. It will allow people to gain valuable new skills and enjoy the pleasure of making things. This is just one of the many exciting projects that the Council is delivering through the Future High Streets and Town Fund programmes which are worth over £70 million.”

The Council is still looking to expand the network of interested businesses and skilled people who would like to help get the Maker space off the ground. Any interested parties can email the team on maker.space@ashfield.gov.uk
