Visit Britain / Visit England

The British Tourist Authority (BTA), which operates under the brand names Visit Britain and Visit England, is the country’s national tourism agency. Both Visit Britain and Visit England work in partnership with the industry to develop visitor experience across those areas, plan the national tourism strategy, and grow the value of tourism in England and Britain. There is a lot of useful information available, including trade shows and events, which attracts international buyers and sellers and also helps to raise our region's profile. You can sign up for the Visit Britain newsletter and keep up to date with what’s happening and importantly learn about the support available.

Tourism Exchange Great Britain

Tourism Exchange Great Britain (TXGB) is a free business-to-business platform connecting tourism suppliers to a diverse range of domestic and international distributors. This is about getting noticed and making it easy for customers to find what they need, but it’s also about keeping businesses safe.

The Pink Book

This is a free guide to help accommodation providers understand what legislation they need to follow. It’s useful for businesses operating at all stages, from start-ups to more established entities and shows you how to set up your business, what licenses you need, help with marketing, health and safety regulations, and employment law.

Visit Nottinghamshire

Works with more than 500 private sector partners and Nottingham City Council to grow the visitor economy for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Visit Nottinghamshire can help you with specialist advice and information to support your tourist business.

For Creatives

Create Growth N2 Programme

This is a new investment programme from the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and is available for creative businesses in Nottinghamshire. It's been designed to bring expert advice and guidance to help creative businesses with high-growth aspirations to gain investment opportunities to innovate and grow. To be eligible, your business must demonstrate high-growth potential, have the ambition to scale up with sales revenues generated in the last 2 years, and you must now be seeking investment for growth.

Creative Enterprise Business Builder (England)

Provides grants designed to support companies who work in moving image for storytelling including film, television, games, animation, and immersive industries. Participants can get up to £2,500 and will be able to work with a consultant to build meaningful connections and create opportunities for business growth.

British Council

You can find current and upcoming international opportunities for artists, creatives, professionals, and organisations at the British Council and set up email alerts to be notified.

There are a number of sources for project development and production support in the UK which can often be combined.

Arts Council England

The national development agency for creativity and culture. It wants to grow skills, knowledge, and networks to help establish the conditions in which creativity and culture can flourish across the country. Arts Council England has several grants:

  • National Lottery project grants - For arts, museums, and libraries projects that engage people in England with creativity
  • Capital investment programme - To support cultural organisations to adjust buildings and equipment so that they can operate safely post-pandemic, improve access, seize on technological opportunities, and reduce environmental impact
  • Developing your creative practice - This fund supports individual cultural and creative practitioners thinking of taking their practice to the next stage through things such as research, time to create new work, travel, training, developing ideas, and networking.

Heritage Funding Directory

The Heritage Funding Directory is managed by the Heritage Alliance, Architectural Heritage Fund, and the Historic Houses Foundation. It is a free guide about financial support for anyone undertaking UK-related heritage projects. There are more than 400 grants listed from trusts and foundations, as well as organisations offering loan finance, awards, scholarships, and other ‘in kind’ resources.
